Transformational Leadership Analysis
The leadership aspect is the most important in any health organization for the maintenance of a positive work environment and for considering the needs of the patients and the staff members (Vidman & Strömberg, 2020). The support from the leaders can create a hugely successful impact on the patients and the staff members regarding the healthcare services provided to them and ensure positive health outcomes for patients having serious health conditions. The most effective leadership style is transformational leadership which encourages the staff members to develop unified healthcare values and shared opinions for the betterment of the organization’s reputation and increased effectiveness of the treatment provided to the patients. The basic focus of the leader is developing a concept of common goals for the improvement of the patient response and ensuring the well-being of the staff members. Leaders play an effective role in providing a clear vision to the staff members through effective communication and collaboration between the interprofessional and other stakeholders (Folkman et al., 2019). The collaboration between the team members keeps the team united and ensures transparency in the provision of healthcare facilities to the patients. This style assigns roles and responsibilities to each team member and validates their effective participation and support in the improvement of healthcare services in the clinical setting.
The Scenario
As a practicing nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) which has the responsibility of providing effective health and safety to premature infants and dealing efficiently with their families to ensure the positive health outcomes of the patients. This unit is based on 25 beds in which the staff is actively responding to the health needs of the patients showing our commitment to the values of dedication and kindness in ensuring the positive health outcomes of the patients and increasing the satisfaction level of the families of the infants. The regular meetings were conducted before the starting time of our shifts by our manager to ensure regular training and educational resources regarding proficiency in the deliverance of quality care coordination to the infants and improving their satisfaction level with the services provided to them. The manager effectively delivers quality information to the staff members involving all in the process of making decisions and making them feel valued for the unified purpose of identifying the strategies that will be effective in improving the health outcomes of the patients (Bhati et al., 2023). This sense of involvement from the manager creates an environment of being considered for all the members thus ensuring a positive work environment for the more productive response of the stakeholders.
Professional Development
The effective involvement of the manager and individual improvement sessions of the staff members provide efficient opportunities for the professional development of the staff and improve their efficiency in dealing with the patients for the generation of improved health outcomes (Samardzic et al., 2020). The workshops regarding the integration of evidence-based best practices in the clinical setting and improving the quality standards of the healthcare services provided to the patients. As a practicing nurse, I have gained more expertise in the management of deteriorating health conditions by effectively making the right decisions at the right time and ensuring positive health outcomes for the patients. Our manager motivates us to work as a team with all the staff members for the identification of effective healthcare practices that can be used to increase the satisfaction level of the staff members in providing quality treatment and increase the well-being of the patients.
Skill Enhancement
It was through the guidance of the manager that we were able to work under pressure conditions with a complete sense of effectiveness and increase the response of the patients regarding the care quality provided to the patients. It was through the effective training of the manager that we were able to identify the healthcare needs of the patients and provide them with standard culturally considerate health services (Walkowska et al., 2023). Under the training of the manager, I was able to enhance my skills and improve my competency in the clinical facility to increase the patient’s well-being. I have also gained the experience of training juniors and leading them in the sharing of opinions in collaboration with other members to create a sense of unity in all the members. Effective leadership acts as a cornerstone in increasing the competency of the staff members and allowing them to increase patient efficiency in managing health situations for an improved healthcare environment.
Transformational Behaviors
Transformational leadership in the clinical facility is necessary to ensure positive health outcomes for the patients by encouraging a unified approach to deal with health problems and increase the health response of the patients. The leadership style can inspire healthcare professionals to actively participate in the quality improvement process of the clinical facility and increase the positive response of the patients by ensuring effective healthcare services (Bornman & Louw, 2023). Leaders can create motivation and encouragement among the members for the common goal and enhanced initiatives regarding the care provided to the patients. In any emergency in the clinical facility, the leaders play an effective role in motivating the team members to give their best and make them realize their potential to initiate improved practices in the clinical facility.
Effective Handling of Challenging Situations
Challenging situations often occur in clinical facilities which need the effective response of the staff members in dealing with and managing the situations to prevent any kind of health disparities and health damages for the betterment of the patients and healthcare practitioners in maintaining the positive environment of the clinical facility (Zajac et al., 2021). In the case of infants facing difficulties in dealing with life effectively, it is only possible through the support of the healthcare providers and the staff members who are always staying by the side of the patient to make them feel that they are always under consideration for the fast recovery of their health situation. This positive response of the healthcare providers is only possible through the strong support of leaders who are willing to provide the needed resources and other materials to ensure the satisfaction of the staff members along with the enhancement of the health of the patients.
Enhancement of Staff Confidence
The deteriorating healthcare situations in which the possibility of generating a good response becomes negative can be effectively handled by the strong support and guidance of the leader. The encouragement gained by all the team members to be actively involved in the health improvement process becomes the reason for the increasing health effectiveness of the patients which is only possible through the transformational leadership style (Ystaas et al., 2023). Moreover, the leader can understand the individual potential of every team member and identify their expertise to allow them to participate in the activities of situations that can boost their experience and increase their experience if dealing with the situations through their best responses. Identifying the expertise and giving them exposure to their desired fields is one of the major improved factors of the leader having the transformational leadership style responsible for maintaining the position.
Effective Team Member’s Coordination and Collaboration
Strong leadership can encourage the team members to collaborate with their interests in the improvement of the healthcare practices implement changed strategies necessary for positive health outcomes sof the patients and increase the effectiveness of the staff members dealing with critical health problems (Bornman & Louw, 2023). Critical situations often occur in the clinical facility that can be handled effectively through the collaboration of the team members ensuring that unified practices are implemented for the improvement of the health response of the patients.
Transformational Leadership, Communication, and Collaboration in Nursing
The transformational leadership style can create an environment where the collaboration and communication between the team members will be creative and effective for the improved response of the patients and increasing the staff satisfaction with the workload and healthcare organization environment (Page, 2020). The most effective factor of transformational leadership is the enhancement of communication between the healthcare providers and other staff members regarding the patient situation and the improvement of practices and stages needed to ensure the enhanced response of the patients and effective dealing with emergencies and sensitive care units where extra care for the patient is needed.
Enhanced Information Sharing
The sharing of patient information in the clinical facility is necessary to ensure that all the healthcare providers are on the same page and have a unified goal regarding the enhancement of the health situation of the patient (Quinn et al., 2019). Keeping the team members updated regarding the health sitiation of the patient can only be possible by effective communication between the team members and increased collaboration for the discussion of the best evidence-based practices for the assurance of the effectiveness of the patient response. Effective communication helps the staff members to identify the health needs of the patients and implement strategies that are considerate to the patient’s needs and based on improved health practices.
Improving Staff Participation
The leadership style improves the participation of the staff members by encouraging them to show their expertise and increasing their confidence about the effectiveness of their health practices in improving the response of the patients (Specchia et al., 2021). Transformational leadership style creates a sense of ownership in the staff members regarding the understanding of patient needs and healthcare organizations for the main purpose of increasing the outcome’s effectiveness and enhancing the reputation of the clinical facility. Moreover, the improved collaboration between the team members can also be ensured by effective leadership as the increase in collaboration will help the staff members in sharing their expertise and effectively cooperate in teh difficult situations where the support and engagement of other members is necessary.
Integration of Culture of Equality
The involvement of all the team members develops a culture of equality among the team members which gives them the impression of being valued and considered for the practice change in the healthcare organization and improvement of patient responses (Doherty et al., 2021). This togetherness also creates unity among the team members which gives them the responsibility to improve the health response of the patients.
NURS FPX 6201 Assessment 1 Conclusion
The transformational leadership style creates a sense of being valued in all the team members by allowing them to share their opinions and perspectives for the common goal and increase the health response of the patients by effectively collaborating with other team members. The health management of the infants and their family members can be effectively ensured by the supportive style of the leader which ultimately increases the staff’s effectiveness in dealing with the health situation and generates positive health outcomes (Boelsma et al., 2021). Moreover, transformational behaviors improve communication and collaboration among the team members which ensures the implementation of best practices for the betterment of the healthcare organization environment.
