Teaching Strategies

The teaching strategies always play an effective role in delivering the knowledge and information to the students accurately and efficiently that will help them in practical life. The management of the instructor in the class and integrating strategies that keep the student motivated is essential for maintaining a positive environment in the classroom and well being of the students. This assessment will be based on the topic of telehealth services in nursing practice to understand the learning outcomes for nursing students by implementing effective learning practices (Eckhoff et al., 2022). To identify and remove the barriers in the process of provision of effective learning it is necessary to implement evidence-based strategies that will proficiently improve the outcomes of the teaching practices. Effective teaching strategies eliminate the learning barriers and improve the deliverance of knowledge for diverse students.

Learning Outcomes for Telehealth Services in Nursing Practice

The emerging trend in healthcare information technology makes it the need of time to integrate healthcare practices that are based on technology and generate effective, monitored, organized outcomes without any delay and prevent healthcare disparities at a large scale thus improving the satisfaction level of the nursing staff (Haleem et al., 2022). Students of nursing should understand the effectiveness of telehealth and the ways to effectively operate it for improved patient outcomes. The learning outcomes of the telehealth services are given below;

Basic Understanding of Telehealth Services

To generate better results regarding health services telehealth it is necessary to make students clearly understand its works, its usefulness, and the fundamental knowledge regarding the principles of telehealth to ensure its effective implementation and enhanced patient outcomes (Barksdale et al., 2023). With the early interventions of this service, the rate of hospital readmissions can be reduced.

Identification of Legal Practices Related to Telehealth Services

The legal and ethical concerns regarding any technology are always the priority of healthcare facilities and institutions as these practices are strictly concerned with patient outcomes which cannot be compromised in any case (Shojaei et al., 2024). Students should know about the data privacy and security of the patients regarding the use of telehealth.

Implementation of Telehealth Evidence-Based Strategies

The evidence-based strategies help the student identify the effectiveness of the service by doing great research and collecting information from scientifically proven journals to understand the improvement in patient outcomes along with the efficient management of chronic conditions and reducing the rate of hospital readmissions.

Telehealth-Specific Communication Skills

The students should be able to understand the technological terms and can communicate effectively regarding the principles, services, and technicalities of telehealth services to prevent any kind of harm and errors (Kobeissi & Hickey, 2023). Students should know how to communicate with patients using telehealth effectively and efficiently.

Telehealth Services Evaluation

The effectiveness of telehealth services can only be evaluated by taking regular feedback from the patients and involving them in the decision-making process regarding the use and implementation of telehealth services in a clinical setting (Chuo et al., 2020).

Assumptions Underlying the Creation of Objectives

The course has assumptions that students are well aware of the technology and tools related to the telehealth service. This assumption will have a significant influence on the information-gaining process of the learners and the assumption regarding the fundamental basic knowledge of students about nursing practices will impact their performance. The course is also based on the assumption that students have basic knowledge regarding the healthcare systems and are aware of the ethical and legal concerns about the implementation of telehealth services. The assumption that students are motivated to improve patient outcomes through telehealth is also the core base of this course.

Evaluation of Teaching Strategies

The effectiveness of teaching strategies can be determined by identifying how students interact with those strategies and what is the impact of teaching methodologies on the performance of students. Following are a few strategies for evaluation;

Flipped Classroom Approach

This approach allows the student to do self-learning, providing them the opportunity of decision making and teaching them in different classroom approaches like integration of online classes along with the traditional classes.

Simulation-Based Learning

This learning is based on providing a practical approach to the students through the implementation of case studies or evidence-based strategies thus helping students to improve their understanding regarding the particular subject.

Case Based Learning

This learning is based on providing students with real-world cases of telehealth services to understand the influence of this technological-based service in clinical practice and how it can be used to improve the outcomes of the patient.

Areas of Uncertainty

To keep the balance between theoretical learning and the learning acquired through practicals and experiments. The knowledge gap on how the different strategies can influence sustainable learning and the effectiveness of student learning methodologies regarding telehealth services.

Evidence-Based Strategies for Managing Potential Barriers

It is the responsibility of the instructor to provide students environment of learning that addresses the diverse requirements of the learners. Providing differentiated instructions to the students helps them understand the educational perspective from their culturally effective point of view thus improving their performance and collaboration (Gheyssens et al., 2023). Active learning techniques are more effective in providing enhanced education to the students by providing them the opportunity of practicals and hands-on experience opportunities.

Integration of technological education to create the foundation for a better understanding of telehealth services in a clinical setting and understanding the needs of the diverse culture. Proper training and workshops should be provided to the students so that their different backgrounds do not create hindrances in the way of student learning. Breaking complex concepts into simpler terms also helps the students in evaluating the strategies that are implemented for the betterment of the students. The teaching strategies should be considerate of the cultural preferences of the students like using language that is understandable to all. Regular assessments should be considered to evaluate the learnings of the students and integrate strategies that are best suitable for them.

Identification of Assumptions

Considering nursing students from different backgrounds instruction is based on a differentiated method that is used to meet the diverse requirements of the students (Liou et al., 2023). Active learning strategies are implemented to improve the participation of the students. Technology integration helps them understand the fundamental conspire of technology in the healthcare practice. Feedbacks are provided to improve the learning of the students effectively and regularly.

Areas of Uncertainty

The student’s cultural backgrounds and different understanding levels are uncertain in the teaching strategies (Szelei et al., 2019). The engagement of students in the learning programs is also different depending on their levels of understanding. Effective strategies for the efficient delivery of learning programs based on technology should be provided to the students.

Overcoming Learning Barriers Through Selected Strategies

The learning barriers are necessary to overcome to increase the performance level of the students and to provide effective and efficient information regarding the use of telehealth services to nursing learners (Garber & Gustin, 2021). The differentiated instructions are used to guide students from various perspectives and give them information in a way that is suitable for them to utilize in the practical application of their studies. Learners come from different learning backgrounds and have different cultural preferences which need to be addressed effectively for the betterment of the students.

Active learning focuses on delivering information through practical activities, role-playing, simulations, and other problem-solving approaches to integrate the concept of critical thinking in the students and help them use their thought processes to solve problems. Learners should be aware of technology-based practices to understand the use of telehealth services which is possible by providing them with training and education regarding the technology and its effectiveness in healthcare settings (Shawwa, 2023). Technology training helps students with diverse backgrounds to make a foundation of technological learning strong and effective.

The strategy of breaking difficult complex problems into simpler ones helps the students learn more effectively and easily how the key areas of telehealth services impact nursing practice. It gives students the confidence to solve problems with efficiency and accuracy. The teachings that integrate the cultural concerns of the students are more effective in removing student problems regarding language and other instruction issues. Regular assessments help the students monitor their progress and gaps and integrate strategies that will help them resolve the problems.

Maintaining Motivation of Diverse Learners

The learners’ motivation belonging to various backgrounds and different cultures should be enhanced so they can easily incorporate their best performance in the studies to generate effective results (Urhahne & Wijnia, 2023). A few steps that can be taken to increase the motivation of learners coming from different backgrounds are given below;

Culturally Competent Teaching

The teaching strategies should be culturally competent and in compliance with the diverse needs of the students. Learner’s motivation can be increased if they are provided with a classroom environment that is culturally competent and instructions that satisfy their preferences.

Active Learning Techniques

Active learning techniques also increase the collaboration of students in learning practice by involving them in role-playing, hands-on experiences, and experiential learning which helps them effectively apply their knowledge in the telehealth services course.

Effective and Regular Feedback

Continuous feedbacks from the instructor help the learners identify the areas of gaps so they can improve their lackings and increase their knowledge regarding the use of telehealth services in nursing practices and how it will help to reduce the rate of hospital readmissions and decrease health disparities.

Differentiated Instructions

Providing instructions by understanding the diversity of the learner’s groups in a way that is culturally competent and integrates practices that are sufficient for the understanding of the learners regarding the knowledge provided in the course of telehealth services.

Integration of Technology

Students need to understand the basic concepts regarding technology to increase their motivation in the learning of the course of telehealth services. The motivated student can be confident in passing this course with excellence by using their base knowledge of technology.
