Designing a Focused Survey Template
Instructions
MAT FPX 2001 Assessment 2 Collect the responses and record them in a template showing the question categories. Answer each question and submit the completed template for the appropriate assessment. Changes in the template are prohibited except for adding or deleting space.
Study Population
The study is based on females belonging to the age group of 18 to 35 having a mental disorder history and live in North Carolina. The purpose of the survey is to find the reason for mental disorders or investigate the experiences of women suffering from substance abuse. The selected group of females is more vulnerable to cognitive problems due to substance abuse and this survey focused on identifying the connection between traumas, mental helath issues, and substance abuse. Focusing on a particular group of females will help in identifying the patterns behind these issues for better management strategies related to the reduction in substance abuse ultimately leading to improved mental health.
Sampling Strategy
Conducting a survey effectively helps identify the root cause of the existing problem and the strategies that can help improve the outcomes. The survey consists of a total of six questions of which four are binary questions and two questions are quantitative. The data regarding the traumas, substance abuse, and mental helath issues is collected through binary questions while demographic information will be gained through the quantitative questions. The survey assumes that the answer to the first few questions will be yes because mental disorders and traumas are often associated with substance abuse. Convenience sampling is the sampling technique used for the collection of information and data regarding the group of people facing substance abuse. This technique chooses people based on their accessibility and availability and it is distributed at the local mall. Participants showed relevance to the study by admitting to their mental health problems but didn’t show representativeness.
There are some challenges related to the survey including the people who are not interested in the survey showing negative responses. This can be improved by clearly communicating with the people regarding the voluntary nature of the survey, eliminating misunderstandings by providing them with complete information, and offering incentives. Moreover, the participants can also be reluctant to provide honest answers due to the sensitivity of the topic which can be addressed by ensuring that the information will remain confidential and neutral with complete privacy. The selection of location and target population could be biased due to some socioeconomic concerns and privacy problems of the people admitting mental helath issues in a public place. This problem can be resolved by considering the population suffering from mental helath issues and experiencing substance abuse.
