Background
HRM FPX 5122 Assessment 3 Power Manufacturing Company (PMC) specializes in the production of lawnmowers, trimmers, and corded and cordless power equipment. There are four plants and two warehouse units within the organization. It typically experiences 3-4% turnover rates. However, in the past five years, the turnover ratio at two of its plants increased to a maximum of 15% and 18%. As a remedial action against this circumstance, PMC administered an employee survey and job satisfaction to enhance worker sentiments.

Recommendations for Improving Pay Satisfaction

• Use a performance appraisal and rewards system
• Use a competency-based pay system (Vance, 2006)
• Expand promotional opportunities
Recommendations for Enhancing Managerial Accessibility
To enhance managerial accessibility, the following are recommended:
• Offer manager training (Al Mamun & Hassan, 2017)
• Use an open-door policy (Munde, 2010)
• Hold regular meetings (Munde, 2010)
• Get managers to interact with employees outside of work responsibilities (Reilly, 2014)
Recommendations for Training and Development
In order to support training and development, the following are recommended:
• Adopt on-the-job training (Al Mamun & Hassan, 2017)
• Provide retirement benefits (Vance, 2006)
• Enhance orientation and onboarding procedures (Kappel, 2018)
• Develop opportunities for growth (Cloutier, Felusiak, Hill, & Pemberton-Jones, 2015)
• Enable employees to use their skills to the fullest (Heathfield, 2017)
Recommendations for Follow-Up Survey
To resolve the new hire dissatisfaction, PMC can consider the following:
• Conduct an orientation program survey to determine the areas of dissatisfaction among new hires.
• Engage new hires in the survey process.
• Assess the impact of the recommendations through pay satisfaction surveys, training and development, and managerial accessibility surveys.
• The second survey should be a repeat of the first to determine changes over time.
