Internal Memo: CapraTek Employee Engagement Overview
Date: November 8, 2022
Introduction to Employee Engagement
In CapraTek, the work environment is not just an area where the employees perform their tasks; it is a vital component of their weekly life, with the employees putting in a minimum of forty hours every week. Due to this, it is essential to create a good and interactive working environment. The managers and the HR managers play a key role in creating such engagement throughout the employee’s life cycle within the company. Managers as key organizational assets play a huge role in the engagement levels, and minor declines in leadership can have measurable negative effects. At present, the top leadership at CapraTek perceives the employee engagement within the organization to be low. This is so when managers and supervisors seem far from their employees, leading people to believe indifference to their career aspirations.
The Stages of the Employee Life Cycle
Seven phases of the employee life cycle are emphasized by the Gallup model, i.e., attraction, recruitment, onboarding, development, retention, and separation.
• Attraction: Potential candidates are attracted at this phase by the emphasis on the company’s benefits, opportunities, achievements, and values.
• Recruitment: The communication must be transparent at the recruitment phase so that the products and expectations of the company are clearly communicated.
• Development: Here, the professional growth of the employees must be fostered, which should be promoted by the supervisors actively.
• Separation: Here, comprehensive exit interviews must be done in order to assist in collecting constructive feedback.
Theories of Motivation
HRM FPX 5090 Assessment 1 Knowing theories of motivation can prove to be really helpful in resolving the issues of CapraTek. Concepts such as the incentive theory, need theory, competence theory, expectancy theory, and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs help understand the motivation of employees. Among these, the need theory of McClelland can be applied most to CapraTek. It states the most significant needs of employees, and hence the managers can tackle the needs. By applying theories of motivation, employees can improve employee retention and job satisfaction through fulfilling needs such as power, achievement, and self-development.
Data Collection Tools and the Ideal State
A variety of data collection instruments are needed to adequately measure employee engagement. These consist of interviews, anonymous surveys, and focus groups. HR and top leadership should collaborate to fine-tune the management practices utilized by front-line supervisors and managers. In addition to the implementation of these new tools and techniques, transparency and openness at every level of the organization are needed. Leadership participation will be paramount to spot members who are less likely to excel in leadership positions. With these processes in place, the company will be likely to attain reduced workers’ frustrations, along with increased performance and engagement. Last but not least, employees will enjoy increased opportunities for professional growth, and their performances will receive the recognition they deserve.
