BUS FPX 4121 Assessment 2 The health care system is highly impacted by economic and external forces changes, which are subjected to numerous challenges such as demand for health care, the availability of facilities and suppliers brought about by allied costs (Morrison, 2020).
Managed Care
The function of managed care established in the 1980s is to enhance the care of the patient, promote fairness and regulate the cost of health services by improving profitability (Morrison, 2020). Care planning has improved the health care system in a positive manner by bringing access to the services at cheaper costs (shrink, Kesper and Loveless, 2018).
Nonetheless, such schemes are restricted, for instance, having limited access to suppliers and references, which will create moral dilemma for health professionals (Shrank et al., 2018). Notwithstanding these constraints, managed care coverage has grown dramatically in past decades (MacPac, 2022).
Ethical Challenges in Managed Care
Accessibility is one of the main ethical issues in managed care because restrictions on medical professionals can hamper the provision of best practice (Vrijhoef, 2022). Healthcare workers have to apply ethical principles like autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice in the face of such restrictions (Morrison, 2020).
Recommendations
One of the most significant ethical dilemmas in controlled care is accessible, as restrictions on medical suppliers may hinder provision of the best treatment (Vrijhoef, 2022). Healthcare professionals need to navigate ethical principles like autonomy, profit, non-medicine and justice when they occur with these restrictions (Morrison, 2020).
Conclusion
Although managed care has enhanced health care services, the limitations in the accessibility of the supplier raise moral issues. Expanding the network can limit these issues, so that patients are given the required care irrespective of sanctions by health plans (Morrison, 2020).
