Apple Case Study: Business Model
BUS FPX 3022 Assessment 2 As per Bajarin (2011), Macintosh is an upwardly managed substance that includes PC software and hardware creation, management, and sales. From creative work to product reuse, the firm has command over almost all facets of its store network. This command extends to both physical and virtual products that are shipped across borders under tight security measures. While Apple attracts with external providers and sellers, its sheer size confers enormous influence on binding terms, quality assurance, and overall client experience. Quite prominently, the company’s commitment to quality is evident in declining disappointment rates of its newer products, such as the iPhone X series, that registered a modest 3% failure rate compared to 22% for prior models (O’Dea, 2020). Apart from that, Apple has consistently attained the best position in the Gartner Store network Top 25 list since about 2013 (Lu, 2020).
SCM Comparison: Apple and Amazon
Despite both being prominent tech companies with stakes in gadget manufacturing and digital retailing, Apple and Amazon possess specific business focuses.Whereas Apple maintains a single fulfillment strategy with limited warehouses, Amazon boasts an organization 110 satisfaction centers (FBA Help, 2021). Apple predominantly markets its restrictive products, although Amazon functions as a business hub for various merchants, including outsider merchants. By the way, the two organizations concentrate on enhancing their stock chains by means of information driven methodologies to enhance proficiency and benefit. Eminently, Apple’s emphasis on high-edge products has made it become the globe’s most productive organization, whereas Amazon concentrates on growth instead of immediate benefit (Molla and Rey, 2017).
Transportation Strategy
Apple initiated a plan in 2020 to utilize carriers such as UPS and FedEx to ship goods directly from retail stores to consumers within a 100-mile area, drawing inspiration from its unified conveyance system (Solomon, 2020).This transition aims to make conveyance times, particularly critical during peak times such as the Christmas season.Though this approach increases airship cargo expenses, it is consistent with Apple’s preference for rapid conveyance, crucial to maintaining its limited stock strategy. However, the company still encounters challenges in balancing shipping costs and conveyance times, especially during peak interest times (Casteren, 2018).
Challenges and Risk Mitigation
Quite a bit of Apple’s store network achievement can be credited to the essential initiative of its Chief, Tim Cook, who recently led the organization’s production network tasks (Lu, 2020). Be that as it may, the Coronavirus pandemic featured weaknesses intrinsic in Apple’s without a moment to spare assembling and worldwide store network conditions. To mitigate such risks, the organization has extended its dispersion system, investing in decentralized circulation channels to enhance flexibility (Bernshteyn, 2021).Additionally, maintaining higher levels of basic stock materials and exploring hybrid mode dissemination techniques could further enhance flexibility against future interruptions.
Economic and Political Factors
Apple’s heavy reliance on manufacturing facilities in China exposes it to long-term risks, particularly with regards to political stability and labor conditions (Textor, 2021).
Apple’s operations are under intense challenge despite the speedy monetary change, political susceptibilities, and worries over usual freedoms in China. Expanding production bases would thus temper global threats, but such a step would involve a huge gamble and could affect product pricing and profitability.
Pricing Promotions
Apple rarely caps its newest product releases, preferring to keep pace with premium pricing (Farfan, 2019). Although sporadic updates may occur, particularly during events like the massive post-Thanksgiving shopping day, Apple essentially relies on brand reputation and product quality to sustain transactions at the top.
